Question:is a question of perspective and the further you get from the past it almost seems implausible, what makes future so predictable?

We use general rules based on experience and "natural (physical) laws" to predict the future. For example, causation is fundamental to predicting the future. Any interaction between two entities in existence can be said to have a cause and effect relationship. Sometimes this causal relationship is obvious, like pool balls hitting each other, and sometimes the relationship is difficult to see, like the effects of butterfly flapping its wings, or lastly, the relationship can be logically necessary, like one end of a lever necessarily rising as the other end lowers. Basically, in predicting the future, we build a model of the world in our mind and then using our experience and power of analogy, along with our knowledge of causation and physical laws, we are able to anticipate the way the world will be *as an effect* of the things we observe might play a causal role between now and then. So if I plant my field with corn seeds, it's quite reasonable to predict that my field will have corn growing in it. What makes the future unpredictable is the variables that we might not be able to anticipate, poor analogies, and misunderstandings of physical (natural or universal) laws.

No one said the future is predictable.....

i don't agree with your supposition that the future is very predictable, so i cannot answer why it would be so predictable

I think it's human nature to repeat behaviors. What we know, what we've seen, what we've learned, all goes toward our behavioral decisions. It's almost as if we're hardwired to repeat the mistakes of past generations- regardless of our perceptions or education or anything else. I think that's why the future can be predictable. (Because human nature is predictable.) Peace.

The future is very predictable. However with so many variables that can not be accounted for the predictability is very unreliable.

With question like this it's no wonder you have settings to private.

The future has never been predictable at all. No one knows.....

Remembering who you were defines your todays and prepares your tomorrows even if the "whats and wheres" of the past are fading

You can learn from the past to face the future, although the future is not predictable.

It comes to you. You don't have to do anything. But then it leaves you just as fast and it is gone. It becomes the past. The past becomes you.

The fact that the future will always be uncertain, therefore, you can assume that it will remain that way no matter how it changes. That much is clear that what you could not predict for certain in the past you will not be able to predict for certain in the present or future either. The nature of uncertainty is a constant.

The only thing predictable about the future is that it will be unpredictable.

Love and blessings Don

learned behavior makes life predictable and that is sad, there are some real dopes in this category my friend

Perspective & perseption even if your perspective
remained constant, I reckon your perseption must change.
Look at the Dopler effect on things moveing toward or
away from where your at. Sound & light & reality maybe :)

it becomes predictable when you percieved it based on you actions and decisions in the present. as you move further, you will be able to see the path you have been and reckon the steps you had taken, those simple reactions you have shown... these simple things can be used as a tool to determine what are you going to have in the future. most of the answerers say future is unpredictable...i do agree on that one but for me future is something worth looking forward to. life makes it unpredictable but i wont let its worth loss its meaning.

Can we say that future is nothing but past experiences ergo predictable?
