Question:really in a box that has yet to be opened?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: really in a box that has yet to be opened?

My 6 year old niece explained it to me a couple of weeks ago like this: "The universe and the stars and sun and all the planets are in a big box - a really big box, and God has the box and keeps it because He collects them."

Sure, religion has been calling the box God for centuries.

Love and blessings Don

No, that is not possible.

Futurama did a really funny episode similar to that - the episode was called The Farnsworth Parabox. Check it out if you have the chance.

Everything is Parallel & nothing is constant in this Elegant Universe

Maybe.
How would we ever find out though?

yes a universe is similar to that idea while somehtings are nto similar to these ifdeas

And when it's open, what happens?

I'm not sure what that would mean exactly. The universe does not exist IN space, rather space is part of the universe. Even if scientists succeed in current attempts to create a new universe in the recently developed Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Geneva, that universe would create it's own space and would not exist in our physical space. It's possible that there is a connection between them, in which case the departure point could be contained within a box. It's also possible that a new univese would actually displace the old one (hope not though, since that could mean the end of the world if the experiment works). In that case, the space of the new universe could be contained within a box in our universe. That is infinitely less likely.

Either way, a universe contains it's own space. No box can exist in space outside it, any box would have to exist within it's own space in another universe. This other universe would not really be OUTSIDE that universe, as outside implies a continuation of space, but science hasn't entirely ruled out the possibility that the entire space of a universe could exist, divorced from a larger universe, entirely contained by a box.

It's probably impossible though and some experiments over the next few years will probably give us a better understanding of why.

The box has been opened and closed many times - trust me I am made of light - I get about.

This is possible of course, you have to slide into the slips in space into the higher laterals, where you could get a uneven round of ululations from the serenity of hyperspace.

What if the key to the box has been lost, or is itself locked up in the box? ;-) thinkee, thinkee, catchee :P !

Actually, the universe is a holographic dream in the Mind of God.

you mean..."The"... universe... not "ours"...

Anti-matter...is the opposite of??...

matter of fact.. YES!!

OPENED... by what or who? If its our minds your thinking of....
Well ...sorry it just wont work!!

why are you trying to let them know you are datting a marsian like me Im sleepy good night.

Yes. And there's and infinity beyond the box--infinite other boxes--that are in another box...but there's nothing outside of that box though. I read it in Popular Science... or was it the Sci-Fi Channel?
