You cannot, it does not require proof. Existence, Consciousness, and Identity are Axioms.

"existence exists-and the act of grasping that statement implies two corollary axioms: that something exists which one perceives and that one exists possessing consciousness, consciousness being the faculty of perceiving that which exists"

because we feel pain and pain is very real

Go punch someone on the nose and see how they show you that they're conscious.

You cannot. If you hurt or interact with someone the only thing you can observe is their reaction not their awareness of it. It does indicate consciousness when one speaks of it, for example, but you do not know they are aware of their thoughts.

You are alone. Or perhaps it is I.

Do you mean is conscious, or has a conscience?

To be aware of yourself, you have to recognize that you exist. Look in a mirror. If its not you, then you're in trouble.

They are aware and processing input information.
