Position:Home>Philosophy> Doubt and peace?

Question:I was thinking. Is doubt the opposite of peace?

Well, we have to ask what we can doubt. We can doubt everything except existence (some type) and logic. Therefore we can never be at peace with doubt. For if we thought we were at peace with some doubtable thing, we could also doubt the peace. Therefore peace can not be doubt. Therefore these are opposites.

What do you think?

I would agree that doubt is the enemy of peace. I see that, considering peace as a state of rest, doubt disturbs peace. It's pretty obvious though, that the opposite of peace is non-peace. I mean, doubt may be A cause for the lack of peace, but it is not in itself the opposite concept.

I think we can have a sense of peace and still have some doubt. I disagree that they are opposites. I can definitely have peace with doubt t. Good thought though!

it;s good that you are thinking about things like this, but I thinkI have to disagree. Not having any doubt at all about something as abstract as peace is basically impossible
