What is the best way to fit 5 small circles into one large circle?

Question:Overlap the 5 small circles, so that half of the first circle covers half of the second and so on. If they overlap like that so that their outer perimeter lines touch the inside perimeter line of the large circle that they are in, then they would cover most of the area.

Do you mean so that they are all the same size? Or that you cover the most area? Can they be different sizes?

You could make a TARGET if they can go into each other as well. But if not then one large on in the middle and 4 small ones around it?

I feel like the question needs more information. Unless its a trick question and the answer is: "By placing them inside." :p

your question is quite tricky but if the small circles are all of the same size, you can put 1 small circle in the middle of the large circle and put the rest four to surround the 1 in the middle inside the large circle.
