Other than procreation, why do we all want a lover? How simple is it?

Humans desire to be loved, to touch, mans desire to trust and talk with another person. Mans desire to unify and his desire to avoid loneliness and hardship.

My theory:
We want someone who feels so attached to us, or dependent, that they will listen to us talk about ourselves; because, talking about oneself is always the person in question's favorite subject, and very rarely does anyone want to listen to that sort of thing unless they feel like they have too or somehow actually want to.

Companionship and we all need someone to talk to and life is harder alone.

I do not know about 'we all''. I do know about Myself, and other than procreation, I want compassion, understanding, honesty, loyalty, beauty, softness, appeal, etc. Its not simple ! how could the most complex being be simple...?

Quite simply, we need to be loved by someone other than ourselves. Plus loving someone makes us feel good!

Human are jealous creatures. We only want a lover because someone else has a lover. If nobody had a lover we could care less about a partner. We feel like unwanted losers if other people have someone and we don't have anyone. If nobody had nobody then all is fair and no one one cares.

Most of the time when one has a lover its a physical attraction and not for procreation purpose.We want that feel of being "wanted",to be touch.Its natural for humans to give and recieve intimacy.Although I would be the one who wants a lover,I dont know about everyone else.Simple?Actually nothing is ever that simple in life even when one has a lover.
