Position:Home>Philosophy> Can I really create my own reality?

Question:Life is the creation of reality, first and foremost, in all its varied and wonderful forms. You are alive and therefore a reality in your own right, a reality that is just as progressive in being as there is anything else in the world, however, there is more to the reality of human mind than it is to the reality of other things. For human beings can create divergent reality, or we can deviate from the most logical course of reason, the chain of cause and effect. It is only natural that if you touch something too hot you will have burns, if you gently strike a crystal glass with lets say a spoon it will produce ringing sound, but when to interact with people they all act relatively differently, if you ask one question the answers will all be different according to there sense of reality but when you choose on best answer you have change the previous reality of your question into turning it into an answered question - the process of creation goes on.

However, the sense that truly makes us realise that we can in fact alter the course of general reality is as I mentioned before in or ability to deviate from the dictates of general nature, human nature is different from the natures of all other things. I can get hurt b someone, for instance, and then I can choose to forgive in response, or I can seek retribution for the act. If I choose seek vengeance then I would be acting in accordance with the law of general nature that I am a part of, but if prefer to forgive instead then I would be acting within the benevolent capacities peculiar only to human nature. Then if I can create human reality within general reality of all things that I can also create personal reality by being a kinder than other people around me.

Well you have been doing a pretty good job of it up to now so I don't think anything is likely to change.

Love and blessings Don

Yes, you can.

What do you think you're in now.

The dudes who make a mutza printing this stuff would have you think so.

You can turn around your thinking from negative to positive, yes.

But I don't think other peoples deaths, or disease, or world events have a lot to do with my creation, frankly. And I am getting pretty p------d off with those who would suggest I did create that.

Turn it around a bit. Can you set a realistic goal in a realistic time frame? Yes. Can you take baby steps to get there? Yes. Can your life be more than you imagined? Yes.

But create your reality - well, as long as you have no family or friends with lives that might impact yours in a way you never predicted.

Too airy fairy for me darling.

Why not? Everyone else does. The stimulus may be the same but the meaning we attach to it may well be different. What is remarkable is not that we are so different but that we find enough in common to have some sort of a shared reality.

Then again, we learnt much of our cognitive tool-set from the way we were raised so, given that we were not raised in a social vacuum, I suppose it is inevitable we will construct a reality that shares so much with the reality of other people from a similar background.

I may live in a world of my own but it's OK because they know me here. May your reality bring you pleasure.

You bet ya how do think the power of positive thinking works ?

Yea, look in the mirror and tell me what you see? Go outside and tell me what you see?

Yes, in a scene you can create your own realities, but the only problem with that is....you can get lost in them.

Yes and no. Yes, in that you can change your attitude about certain things and thus change your perception about it which is a reality, and no, because you can imagine that the sky is pink instead of blue but still see through your eyes that solid, unchanging blue -- imagination can only go so far.

If you were an extreme kind of person you could change your reality by experimenting with some hard psychoactive drugs, but that is a completely different topic and not recommended.

It is very hard, because you share this same reality with billions of other people, it will take some effort to make every one else change their reality just to suit your plans.

However, if you learn about "lucid dreaming" then you can enter your own little reality, where you are quite free to change it instantaneously at your will.

theoretically no.
practically yes...by reacting optimally with events of life.

You're doing it right now.
