Position:Home>Philosophy> Are we worthy of freedom?

Question:Only those who are not willing to fight and/or die for their freedoms are not worthy of them. God didn't grant man freedom; he granted free will. Crime is not a by-product of freedom because society has the freedom and right to protect itself. Crime is a lack of moral fortitude, societies that are not free have crime. Yes we are worthy of freedom because there will always be men and women who set themselves to the task of assuring that it exists for those who but seek it but are not strong enough to achieve it alone. That's what makes it such a precious commodity. It is the only thing that has no ending balance. The minimum payment is always high but we never argue the bill.

Yes, we are... at least, most of the time...

Yes, absolutely, God has given that right & told the ways too to have the same, undoubtedly.

Freedom is what one allows it to be.
Some bow to the elitists that conjure up reasons for control in an effort to create a larger millage rate for freedoms that already exist.
Every human is not worthy of freedom, freedom is gained then attained.
Those the stifle freedom are the true enemies of the state.

Freedom FOR what? Freedom FROM what lacks practical relevance.

No.We are not.We are not capable of controlling ourselves. That is why there is increase in crime and wars all round the world.
What do you think?

For freedom, we need to be worthy in terms of wealth of a matured sense of responsibility... in today's world, everyone wants to have freedom for free without paying the requisite price in terms of commensurate responsibility which is why we are not able to consummate our freedom fully and properly.

only people who dont abuse it

We are worthy of freedom to an extent, until one takes advantage.

Why wouldn't we be?
I'm glad that we are, because I love my freedom!

What kind of freedom and how much?

Hello,

(ANS) No.1 First of all I think the concept of "Freedom" is a human construct (just an abstract idea) just like God, religion, money, time and calenders.

No.2 Freedom was invented by humans for humans, freedom doesn't exist in reality.

No.3 Humans cannot cope with what they perceive or term freedom!! Cannot cope when faced with existential reality.

No.4 Humans need rules & laws, regulations, guidelines & structures to: a) feel safe b) know how to behave c) feel secure in the knowledge that someone is in authority & control otherwise we fear chaos & anarchy etc. Fear we will end up out of control or fear others who are already out of control.

Your question conveys a presumptive sense that we are not free already, or that we could be freer still in the sense of our common understating of freedom. If we assume that we are not free then this would be a wrong assumption to base the premise of a leading question, as it would close your question onto just one logical result that since we are not free, or we do not have freedom, therefore we are indeed not worthy of freedom, as simply we do not have it, as if we were worthy of if we would have had it by now.

But if we recognise that we are free in some sense, in some regards but not in other, may be we feel as if our arms are free but our feet are tied to the ground, then we need to realise that arms that are free have hands and those hands have fingers that are free. Then may be there is restriction upon our expression but our thoughts are free. The people who are truly worthy of freedom are the people who are never without their right sense of freedom. They strive to make their world a better place only by assuming the responsibility of the freedom they have, that they realise and value, however little that may be. Then the question first of all is - are we worthy enough people to know what freedom is? Is freedom an illusion, or a living reality?

To say we are not now doesn't necessarily mean that we wern't at some prior time.

Are we free???

We have no choice. Either we are worthy of it or not, we have it.
