Wow, these lyrics hit home for me! To me, it means two people in a long distance relationship. The one person let the other one go to live out his/her dream but they are trying to work things out. Is this a song?

It reminds me of my parents & how much they've sacrificed ( & still do) for me & my brother to have a good life style.

It's an "Ode to someone who came before" and belongs in the poetry section.
