Does that mean that if there is the 14th floor. there's a13th floor? Who stay there? Is that remain empty? Huh huh huh...it's simply a foolishness indeed. You won't get this here in Bangladesh or India. The thing is this, all the Christians believe the 13th, know why? Since there were 13 persons in the Last Supper after which The Jesus was crucified! So the Christians actually believe 13 as UNLUCKY. Forget the Hotels or Airliners-----they're after business after all. Probably you heard of an old sayings, "No.13, lucky for some"!

Maybe becuz they think its bad luk or somthin lyk dat.....

because the are superstitious and some people don't or won't sleep or stay on that floor i don't see anything wrong with it I'd stay on The 13th floor!

“I’m staying at a hotel right now, there’s no 13th floor because of superstition. But come on man, the people on the 14th floor, you know what floor you’re really on. If you jump out of the 14th floor hoping to kill yourself, you will die earlier." - Mitch Hedberg

superstition.....there isn't a row 13 on airplanes either....

Because of superstition. You know 13 is considered bad luck. So to avoid people who are superstitious and wouldn't spend money and stay on that floor, why not skip it. Possibly research where friday the 13th originated. Hint, had something to do with many being killed on that particular day and date because they were believed to be witches, (history) look it up

Many people believe that the number 13 is a bad number. To silence the superstitious, hotels usually skip anything with the number 13, both in floors and room numbers.

Or, maybe, hotel owners are supertitious.

i've worked in a hotel....
i asked the same question....
the reason is in the time when people were very supersticious
nobody would accept a room on the thirteenth floor so they took out that floor all together...this is the same with buildings also....

bad luck, you've never watched any stephen king movies have you

Scary movies like to exploit that theme, based mostly on urban legend. Many hotels reserve that floor for admin offices and cleaning staff facilities: sure it's superstition, just try to tell guests that.

If no one wants to sleep on the 13th floor of a hotel because of supertition, the hotel will lose business. Gotta keep the people and the money!

TIS VERY BAD LUCK, LOL

Americans are very superstitious people or have trouble counting. Other countries have number 13.
