Position:Home>Philosophy> Do you think that -infinite and +infinite will ever meet?

Question:Pūr?am ada? pūr?am idam
Pūr?āt pūr?am udacyate
Pūr?asya pūr?am ādāya
Pūr?am evāvasi?yate.
That is full, this is full
From the full, the full is subtracted
When the full is taken from the full
The full still will remain — Isha Upanishad.

nope i do not.

They don't HAVE to meet, they have always been one. The miniscule infinite (the infinite going inward from whatever point) is contained within the same Infinite.

As to the prospect that, should they ever meet, the two will cancel each other out, the idea pertains only to mathematics ,and here we are on a higher plane, the highest in fact, where mathematics does not apply.

The answer above mine has reminded me:
Sadbhavena sarvam ajam
tena na asti vai ucchedah.
( from the standpoint of the highest reality, everything is
birthless, therefore there can be no such thing as
destruction). Gaudapada's Karika to the Mandukya Upanishad.

I think you are only picturing a ruler, but i think you should picture direction when you are thinking of this concept.(north, south, east, west, n/e, n/w, etc).
And no, i do not think so, even though the sign is like that ∞.

In order to testify this properly, i believe we need something infinite to apply on, but sadly i dont think you can apply such concept that mind cannot even comprehend yet.

The concept of infinity comes from the Latin infinitas or "unboundedness." It refers to several distinct concepts (usually linked to the idea of "without end") which arise in philosophy, mathematics, and theology.

I think, in order for the negative and positive to meet on this concept, one will have to change its charge, but i do not think it will ever meet because the speed itself will be constant on both sides. If one part speeds up itself, that will also speed up the opposite which means it is not possible to meet. Another possibility is that the infinity(-infinity and +infinity) goes the precise direction to meet. ie(-infinity goes left and +infinity goes right). But to my limited rational thinking, it is also impossible to bend the infinity.

Universe is infinite(finite in nature however), and if its -infinity and +infinity ever met, the universe would get slower(This is just my thinking ;) ) or could have caused some problems. Maybe, its because universe expands in all directions and thats why it havent met each other.

This is all i can think of, i hope it helped.

Thanks for asking.

lol infinit is not linear the infinit is not in a demension we can understand yet like there is 4 dimensions we know but infinite does not fall in any of them therefore it can not meet itself as if it was a 3d object

The context please, otherwise it would be speculation, but I suppose you could say it is speculation either way but with a proper context one could argue the probability.
On a simple number line the point where they meet is defined as zero.

oh my. i think that they may stop but not meet. But what i know is that, they have a starting point.
