thats just because the impacts and feelings in love are not universal............u just cant generalise into into a simple philosophy................some things are too complex and love is one of them

Emotions will cause people to stray. The study of psychology is more appropriate for love.

peace and love

Indeed 'stray' is the right word to describe those who fall in love...... wisdom dictates we need to keep away from love even though it is such a sublime feeling, because it disturbs the balance of mind and actions which are so essential for achievement as well as happiness. In other words, philosophy, the love of wisdom would ensure that one keeps off "love, the great fruit of life, aka the famous apple".

Oh, you hit the heart of the question. When I came here I hoped to find other thinkers with whom I could exchange "deep" ideas; deeper, anyway, than "are we worthy of freedom?" or "what is the meaning of life?" or "How do you feel about society?"

I have been very disappointed. The "pop" side of philosophy, i.e., questions and answers by people who have never read the Durants or the Syntopicon--and dont' even know what those are--are 99% the majority.

But that majority is not just in this forum. I've asked questions in Psychology, expecting psychology students or profs. to give me an answer. Nope. Pop stuff there too.

Same with R&S.

Yahoo Answers is for kids. It was not meant for philosophers. Nothing in YA was meant for anything other than selling advertising.

Fortunately, I do sometimes get good answers, and I often get to give rational, "non-pop" answers.

Philosophy are mass observations of generalized human patterns that can be explained although not absolute. Love is a fools game that often has no observable wisdom or sense and can not be attributed to one group of person or another. Philosophy can be taught. You can be a student of Nietzsche or of Kant. Euripides or Herodotus in your philosophical beliefs but who's theories on love do you follow? Dr Phil or Hugh Hefner? Philosophers are wise men that stay out of the foolish irrationalities of love.
