Well, It would depend on who we are talking about, you would not know... EVER... This thought scares me because you could have gone through hundreds of lives already and are on our 279th one for all we know!!! You could have been Shakespeare in your past life for all we know now or ever will!!! As for animals, I believe that your past life is an animal and you emulate that animal in certain ways, for me... I say the former one (animal reincarnation).

It would depend on the person. We cant prove if this is real unless the person actually remembers his or hers past life.
Why i say it depends on the person because it would depend on his or hers beliefs. If heshe believe that theres no such thing, then thats that for that person. We dont know if its real but its just a theory so far

Honestly speaking it is a thing that i do believe. I once saw a show a true one mind you that the women got hypnotized and had memories from her past life..... I was once told that many times the ppl we feel really close to were ppl in our past lives that we still had something to accomplish with.

if we did have past lives, then that means that somewhere along the line, we could have decided that 'life was a good thing.'

Hinduism and Buddhism believe that your present life is the consequence of your past life. It is called Karma.

But up to now nobody can prove it scientifically.

there is no such thing called past life, you may hallucinate about being somebody before you were born but its not true, only afterlife exists. The only One who was somebody before He was born is Jesus Christ and He was and is and will always be God.

If you don't look down upon the question from the viewpoint of was i someone famous ect...
And you think your grandfather came from say Ireland

Which might mean he lived through a great deal of famine and hardship.

His personality and body would have had to compensate for these environment issues...

For instance the hardship of the parents who went through the first and Second World War ended up spoiling their children with food and colour - the things they felt they had missed out on which led the children to act behave...

Your grandfather may have learnt the skill of hording and saving which he passed on to his children and so on... or the kids rebelled.

It’s the rollercoaster of life – how every action has a consequence and its not as easy as not doing what your parents did you have to understand why they did the things they did.

As a descendant you might have picked up some of his characteristics. Through dna (how you body make up is formed or through social development.

Maybe you’re good at living off little food, or you might be a swing back and have decided to layer yourself in fat in case you hit the same hardship.

Perhaps you have a small pallet taste you like to stick to the same foods.

Your genetic history can help you to understand your personality and body traits where they came from why they were developed and for what purpose.

Say your grandfather was actually a blacksmith in that same Irish village, he didn't starve as much as the others but he did what instead? He was in a position of power then what skills would he have had to develop that might have filtered down to you?

If you think that the basic function of a human being is to pass on its dna to a better vehicle... that’s why we want our children to be better than us.

Its great that you sons interested its the best foundation of learning to understand where you came from what your foundations are, if they are not so great you know what to be aware of... just focus on the good ones, and the interesting ones.

My best story that helps me understand my character is the one where my dads mum used to lock him in the cupboard under the stairs when he got too much for her
- He built up a stash of comics, had a torch and a food store and didn’t really mind the whole affair at all... but he used to berate his mum for doing it to him and complain that I was so sneaky.
