The socratic method is a teaching method in which the teacher asks a student a series of leading questions that lead to an inescapable conclusion. The signature of the socratic method is that all of the answers are provided by the student; the teacher, at no point, tells the student what is right or wrong.

The method consist in teaching a student to solve the questions he has by himself, asking him questions about his own thoughts.
Is not the same at the sophist method, which is more rhetorical than pedagogical.
