Position:Home>Philosophy> What (evidence, justified reasoning) is there that physical objects exist outsid

Question:Ah, Rene (DesCartes), how do you know that your reality is not all a dream? Is there really a way to tell? If someone beats you with a club, would you feel the reality of the pain? or would it be imaginary? If the pain is real, I would posit the stimulus (physical object) is real...but then how do we determine the pain is real? Do you have a philosophy headache yet? One of the things I truly enjoy about philosophy is that for every question there is a convoluted answer that inspires another question!

Samuel Johnson refuted Berekely's denial of objects by kicking a rock and saying "I refute it thus!"
Our senses tell us that there are objects. If you ignore the evidence of your senses, you are a lunatic looking for death.
As to whether matter is all there is, that's another question all together. But it's not all mind either. Bergson, I think, came closest to the truth with his philosophy of energeticism - that everything is made out of energy. This is not far from what quantum mechanics says either.

i have none
there could be libraries full of books on this very subject it's something very interesting thing that makes you think.
it a matter that calls out to most philosophers
and i enjoy reading their insight

"A consciousness with nothing to be conscious of would be a contradiction in terms." (Rand)

A cognoscentum is an object of cognition that is not in the mind.

The "Primacy of Existence" means that existence exists whether or not a consciousness knows of the cognoscenti within existence.

There are more 'justified reasons', but that's enough.

Easy.

Walk into a wall . I'm so done with all this unreal talk.
