The end of the world has been predicted hundreds of times by various prophets and doomsayers for thousands of years. The Aztecs were right about predicting the end of their world - they foresaw the Conquistadores arriving in floating houses (ships) and that they had stone armor (steel). Other than this, predictions about the end of the world have all been wrong.
Human life could probably end any time if the Earth was smacked by a big enough asteroid. This wouldn't kill all life on the planet, and probably not even all human life, as humans are pretty good at surviving and adapting to new environments.
The year 2012 has gained attention because that's when the Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world.
The world will really come to an end when the Sun becomes a red giant in about 10 billion years and turns the Earth into a cinder.

I am 59 now. This is perhaps the 20th end of the world that I have been through.

I will tell you exactly what to expect. The morning after the end of the world, the sun will come up the birds will start chirping people will get out of their beds an get ready for work. Moms will hug their Kids and everything will pretty much be like it was the day before the end of the world.

Only one thing will be different. All of the people who were talking about it as though it was real will be saying that they knew that it was not really going to happen.

The day after that there will be a new date for the end of the world predicted, and those same people will be talking about how it is real.

The world will end. But not for another million years. What got you the year 2012? It sounds like a movie or something. You need to know you will not be alive when it happens. There is nothing we can do to prevent the sun expanding or anything. It is natural. When it does hopefuly we will have colonies all over the Solar System.

There have been many past predictions of earths demise and they all have been wrong. No need to prepare for something that will not happen. Live life to it's fullest!

I think the world as we know it may end, hence our current economic recession and decivilization of the masses. I think we will begin the ending of the world somewhere within the next 10 years. Some said 2014, some said 2011, I say eventually. No need to stress about it until you know it is inevitable

Yes, we're all doomed. Some aliens on planet Zerkowfi 7 in a galaxy not too far away from ours are going to make some giant pancakes to celebrate pancake day. Unfortunately, when pouring the mix into the pan, one of them slips on a banana and a huge dollop of pancake mix will travel through space and eventually smother earth destroying the planet with no survivors.

its just a prediction! everybody can say theirs also. But we can nver tell when is the exact end of the world. only God knws. Instead of thinking it why not try to think wht we could do while world s stl on its way.

The theory that the world is going to end on the 24th dec 2012 is based on astrologists that have shown on this date Mercury Jupiter and earth will become alined with the sun. Some believe that because of the atmospheric pressure caused by this the world will end. however it is more realistic to assume that there may be freak weather, volcano eruptions etc on this day.
