Position:Home>Philosophy> 100-200 years left on earth?

Question:ok we all know about global warming, we are all aware of the problems with war, economics cannot last for ever, over populated, short of food, everyone knows one day we will have to move and repopulate? so why is this not our goal now, in my opinion we have 100-200 years left here, so why not invest invest invest in science and space flight? am i wrong
there is investment, but not the kind of investment we need to find an answer for mass evacuation, or teraforming another planet, you can do many simple equasions to fins how long we have left....population growth/time = or wars/time= or desease/time and the most obvious global warming...steven hawking said it best,,,,its inevitable that we have to move, i just hope its not to late before we find a way

The sensible thing for the human race to do would be for us all to work together to irrigate and fertilize barren areas in order to grow food. Rather than continuously destroy parts of the World and kill each other indiscriminately.
Realization will come too late.
In my humble opinion Tibetans had the perfect society where all citizens respected their religion and each other for the benefit of everyone. The Chinese invasion destroyed that.

didnt you just ask this question a minute ago, yea i think we should move, but to where alright its big out there but its all to far away

LESS!!! There is no way out.

If the Earth becomes inhabitable for the human species then it's called quits. The Earth is the human race's home and if it's destined to change in such a way we can't inhabit it anymore then we're destined to become extinct. You can't fight the inevitable...

...but that's just my opinion ;)

an asteroid due to buzz Earth soon may shift its orbit enough to return and strike the planet seven years late..............didnt you see the one came so close to
hitting earth ?
they are not going to miss the earth for ever

Even if we find the way for moving into another planet, I think there will only be the privileged and favored ones who will be able to cash the opportunity and the rest of majority in any case will simply rot here.... in my view that syndrome is the first priority to tackle and set right. Moreover, running away from this planet, we would only be prone to spoil another planet.... rather than try to escape our problems, we need to address them squarely....... the basic problem is not far to seek... we are too materialistic and we need to get back to a fair degree of spirituality (not the religious type, but the humanity oriented)...... move priority from quantity to quality and from immediate to longer term and from narrow self to broader humanity.

As far as investing goes it would appear that we are investing more in the ability to adapt to less hospitable environments and less in the cultivation of environments that we are currently able to survive in.
As far as evolution goes I do not see humans being as concerned with or present state of physical being but more concerned with a more efficient overall design in terms of adaptability.

We have either 1 more year or a million more years of human inhabited earth in some shape or form. 100-200 is no more reality than a guess or sompletely wrong.

All old preddictions have never materialised and what does stephen hawkins know? he is a mathemetician thats all.

We cant live together on this planet which has evolved over billions of years to make the conditions right for us so how do you imagine in just a few years we could evacuate to another planet that has no conditions for human life long term and you ignore the greatest plight of man (not disregard for the environment) but the fundamental inability to live side by side without war and conflict.

So NO we dont need to waste time and money and resource on mass evacuation but we need to concentrate on what we have.

Because law makers live for today. They only care about their skins, not our offsprings'.

Yes I think we have about three hundred years left as a life form on this planet the way we are going. But! I think there will be an intervention in our path to destruction, and I don't believe science is the answer, nor seeding the Galaxy with our race on other sustainable planets.
I believe it is all in our Creator's hands. Not ours. We've blown it!

The problems we have today their sense will soon be washed away from the mind when we will see immanence of emerging global crises of climate change. The rumble it will cause will not be within the scale of human understating for any remedy or a course of escape. I hope this would not happen but the sings are there. The earth had been asleep while we romped and roared on freely and wilfully for past hundred or so years, digging holes, burning fossil fuel and blowing out green house gases. And now, the earth is going to wake up a little from its slumber roll round and then go to sleep again.

This is all we have to live on. There is nowhere to go for thousands of light years in every direction in space. Just brace up for the times!
