Do you envy the simple?

Question:I know I do sometimes.
I sometimes wish I could so easily spurt something out, state a simple conviction so bluntly, etc.

But noooooooooooo.... I had to go and be all intellectual-wannabe like...

I believe Socrates was rubbed the wrong way with the Sophists of his time. This pseudo intellectualism you represent is better repressed by just claiming that you know nothing like Socrates did. You would sound smarter that way. Sometimes simple is good. Buddhists keep it that way because they're on to something.

sometimes i feel that way too especially when you're on a lot of pressure because many people are expecting you to do good and many have high standards for you or they rely on you but really, i just want to be simple.

It depends on what you exactly mean by "the simple". Are they the poor ppl or those that are mentally retarded or not properly educated or not highly intelligent or intellectual? I am intellectual, which is an indefferent statement about the way I am, but I don't have any problems with ppl who are less intellectual. Most of them are not intellectual. The only problem I hate in ppl is when they are not willing to think.

envy is a childish emotion. examine why and propel yourself into adulthood.

I used to work with Alzheimer's patients and no matter what happened to them most were happy all the time.
There was one woman who either whistled or sang all day, and I mean ALL day long. She forgot every sorrow and every bad thing that ever happened to her.

Take a look at people with Downs Syndrome, I have never seen anyone as happy just to be alive. A friend of mines daughter has Downs and this little girl is as happy as I have ever seen anyone in my life.
This little girl has been in and out of the hospital since she was born. Does it bring her down? No not at all. She is happy with the simple things in life. The things that most of us pass by without notice.

We should all hope we could be a little more like that, and maybe someday we all will.

yeah i do, i wish i could just leave things as they are but i ponder on them for ages and get all upset and over think everything.

I'm a very complex person, and most people don't understand me not even my family do, which can be really frustrating.
