Position:Home>Philosophy> Do you think it's human nature to think wisely?

Question:...or to act foolishly ?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: ...or to act foolishly ?

It's definitely human nature to act foolishly but then again...what some people think is wise is not always the same as what other people think is wise...so I guess...wisdom is subjective, to a degree...

Thanks! :) Report It

  • It is by human nature that we act foolishly but it is the nature of the Holy Spirit (which comes from God) that makes us think wisely

When he, the spirit of truth comes he will guide you into all truth, he will not speak on his own he will speak only what he hears, and tell you what is yet to come.
    John 16:13

    everyone's different...
if you believe in reincarnation, it explains it quite well

Wisdom represents the transcendence of human nature. Although, it is human nature to attempt to overcome acting foolishly.

i alwaystry to think and act wisely as per my mind capacity.is right that nature goes for wise first.

Neither, because they are contextual to the situation. Was it wise to drink coffee before bed? No, but I forgot. (Context.)

However, it is human nature to make the attempt to think as rationally as possible. Whether the result is wise, foolish, or simple reasonable is--contextual.

it is human nature to spout drivel and call it wisdom .the prime drive of human nature is self interest otherwise we wouldn't have come this far .

for some its natural, for some its learned and some are just foolish

Well, I think it is in human nature to WANT wisdom. So, humans throughout the ages attempt to gain wisdom by gaining knowledge. However, while they gain knowledge many are foolish, because they do not know how to apply that knowledge to their minds (or hearts) to create wisdom.

Humans are foolish and undisciplined. It is unnatural for humans to be disciplined and thus it is human nature to be foolish.

Overall, I believe wisdom comes from discipline. Now, the question is: where does discipline come from?

We as humans naturally do foolish things..... but to think wisely is to know and understand God and His laws.

Foolishly because its human nature to be greedy

I think immaturity and lack of higher intelligence will enhance a humans ability act foolishly. With maturity, and/or higher intelligence you gain the knowledge to act with wise intentions. Just because one thinks wisely; does not mean one's actions are just as wise.

Only if its by your nature, we are all different...but try it...it works rather well...

Yes I think that God created us in proper way and gave all the ability to think good or evil,
then each of us had his choices how to think and how to act*

People have to think clearly to survive in this competitive world but their nature prefers to be ignorant.

Wisdom comes with age (for the lucky)

    humans have no true nature

I have seen many children , thinking wisely.
I have also seen many adults, acting foolishly.
Therefore, I tend to believe that yes, it is human nature to think wisely, but Society , when we start being active part of it, leads us to act like fools....
