As i understand it, humans, originally, were intended to be guided by their hearts/intuition as to a proper course of action in every situation. The left brain/"mind"/ego was then to be engaged in figuring out the proper plan to carry out the heart's intention.

Somewhere along the line the "heart" got lost and most everyone turned to their ego, and, usually, a rather negative version of it, to not only come up with the direction but also the means. Thus we have a culture, if not the entire planet, run by fear, greed, lust, power trips, jealousy, etc. -- the usual negative ego based emotions. The ego is needed for the purpose stated above, but, ideally, one purged of all of the negatives. Accomplishing this requires a bit of research into the realms of metaphysics and mysticism.

In the meantime take note that the leadership on the planet is run totally by negative ego, and that's why the planet and the species are in very deep trouble. And, nowhere, is peace to be found.

very true, there is nothing in this world i dispise more than giant egos- people need to start thinking of others

Not necessarily. We can still engage in the whole spectrum of negative emotions in defense of another person. The ego brings peace only when there is something to be gained from the other person, but altruism only brings peace when there is no third party interfering with the cause.

Our society is based on competition, and without ego...
I agree but then how would the rich and greedy separate from those that they could have serving them? Winners and losers? That's what I've noticed, and money will never give up money.

Can't be alive without an ego. There can't be life and peace in the same place, although, if we were immortal, we would not bend.

This is vacuousness parading as profundity.

i agree completely.
people with big egos worry only about themselves. and that causes conflict between people, disturbing the peace.

No, I think egos are just one possible cause of conflict. There are others too.
