Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: And do you also wonder why Earth is the only planet occupied by life?

It is amazing when you see how big the Universe is and yes, we are just a speck in the scheme of things. I sometimes wonder about that. I think that God planned it that way and then has left us to our own devices. We
are never satisfied and spend billions of dollars chasing the dream that other planets are inhabited. We look for something that doesn't exist, but we can't seem to convince ourselves of it.

How deep.

this planet is a tiny spec.

Ine one corner you have religion. In the other you have science. In the end only one can prevail...

The galaxy is big, bigger than you can imagine, earth isnt just a little speck its like smaller than a freakin non-seeing micro thing

looks like somebody just watched Horton hears a Who

Indeed we are only a grain of sand in the beach of the universe! Many more planets and many more inhabitted by life!

i don't think that life only exists here. Life is not as we think it is. Life exists in many different forms. The universe itself is living. Plus, life isn't only about the physicality of things. Consciousness and thought are living things also.

If you compare the size of an atom to the size of a human being, then we would be the size of many galaxies combined...

Pretty much because God deemed it so.

God saw FIT to create us.

every star is a sun to another solar system, so that means there are, trillions of solar systems. not only are we a speck, but you are crazy if you think we are the only planet with life on it.

It's kind of scary when you think about it-here we are, all alone in the universe. Even if we do find intelligent life, there's no way to reach it, really.
Maybe everything is just a picture of something larger. Inside an atom, let's say the protons represented planets, the atom represented a galaxy, and something as large as a human being represented a universe.
It's pretty scary to think about. How can we be so absorbed with worldly events when an entire universe is just outside?
Maybe we're a picture of something larger, which in turn is the size of an atom compared to something else. Guess we'll never know.
I think we're going about the search for intelligent life completely wrong. Who's to say that other species need the same things we do? After all, an alien life form would probably adapt to its planet. They probably wouldn't need water or air like we do.

Its all in Gods plan.

who said it's the only planet occupied by life? astronomers and other scientiests alike agree that other planets exist that could be habitats for life. Besides, scientists have only discovered a tiny fraction (probably less than 1/billionth of a percentage) of known planets.

Wonder was just wondering that the other day.
Are we twins, separated at birth .... ?
Hmmnnn ....
* wondering *

in space, the little blue rock...

Right on the speck thing. We don't know about being the only planet occupied - we're the only one we know of - but as you point out, correctly, there are many billions more out there to check.

Watch this it should scare you!!

This is the best refutation I have ever heard of the Fallacy of Dust in the Wind:

"I know not if this earth on which I stand is the core of the universe or if it is but a speck of dust lost in eternity. I know not and I care not. For I know what happiness is possible to me on earth."

i wonder more about your second statement

I have thought of this question before. Just Imagine, humans are made up of atoms, electrons & whatnot. What if the Earth itself is actually an "atom" of a much larger creature?
