Sorry to answer with a parable, since this is not the religious section and I am not evangelical, but the story of the Prodigal Son was always interesting to me in this regard... the son got into all that misery when he left his home and traveled to a foreign land.

It makes me sad that I have to prepare my children to deal with liars, cheaters, users, abusers.
Especially after teaching them about love, sharing, caring, polity, kindness. And of course hearing them laugh themselves to sleep with endless giggling makes me hope they can have that same joy throughout their lives.

I think it is very sad. Humanity could be so much more. We are too self-centered now. why can't we just do the right thing?
