Why do you think that humans need love?

Question:I know it sounds callous but its all about evolutionary psychology. Since it takes our offspring about 18 years to reach maturity, it makes sense evolutionarily that we develop monogamous relationships. (usually two parents can take care of a kid better than one).
so back when humans were developing, the ones that stayed together had a better chance of successfully raising their kids. The couples that stayed together must have had genes that lead them towards monogamous behavior (felt pleasure from being with someone over a long period of time). Thus they had a better chance of producing viable offspring because they stayed together to fulfill this need, more offspring = natural selection, the love gene would be naturally selected for. ....... And by the way humans aren't the only ones that have monogamous relationships.

Because they need to know they matter.

A sense of belonging seems to be central to our existence. By being loved, we feel complete. Rejection seems to be the worst feeling in the world and we don't seem to be able to cope with it very well. We have seen the destruction in the world that comes from any type of rejection.

This may not make sense. But the nature of the universe is love. Love is the powerful force that created the universe. And when God made man he created man in God's image. To love and be loved in return.

Humans need someone to reaffirm their self worth and someone to share their experiences with. People are constantly looking for something to fill that void in their life with. Companionship may be one way to do that.

Because love feels good. We need things that feel good.

They don't necessarily, they do need social contact though. The love thing is just one form of social behaviour that favours one being over others.

Incentive to procreate.

because our biological purpose is to reproduce & raise children...without love, it's more difficult to rear children to adulthood successfully. Therefore natural selection favors a predilection towards love, and so that's how humans evolved.

Its just an illusion to get you married and have children.
Without it people would get each other pregnant everyone and it be one f'ed up Earth.

Their need for belongingness

because if humans didn't have love then there would be no one on this earth and they would probably be sad.

We all know that no man is an island and humans are social animals.To survive,grow and live a better life,we all are inter Dependant and each of us has a support system like a family,friends,relatives and host of other relationships.Within our support system we get more attached to some people than others and this in turn gives us more security,assurance and emotional fulfillment.At some stage such feelings take shape of love.It's therefore obvious that humans need Love for better emotional life though one can survive without it.

Why do you think a flowering plant in your garden needs the care of the gardner? And yet the gardner alone is not sufficient for the flowers to bloom. There are these other ingredients like soil, sun ,water and good seed. But the care of the gardner is the fulfilling ingredient which helps the flower to bloom on time, and not before time.Then the fragrance that the flower gives out is always appreciated by the neighbours and the flower well admired.Yes a new proverb, just the way a tree is known by its fruit so is the flower known by its fragrance.Please do not kill the cells and artficially engineer it to kill the plant.
Everybody says take care of animals, I say a flower stays on the plant for many days to share its beauty and fragrance with everyone, do not try to pluck it and try to own it for it fades in the artificial set up.Instead of beautifying the indoors why not cultivate your own sweet garden outside where the passerby can take a look and have a good day too.
So love is one of the many vital ingredients that human needs to blossom fully into a beautifull tree or plant as the case may be.
By the way I shall end up with yet another proverb, a flower is known by its fragrance and a garden by the Gardner.

Because we are fragmented and love is the glue that helps to restore us back to unity - both horizontally and vertically.

Love gives us a sense of self-worth and also gives us purpose. We just need to understand that love needs to be given in order to receive it.
