Do they teach us to use our minds or teach our minds so they can use us?

Question:Teach you to use you mind for what?

Is the goal to sit in the corner and think up a storm?

When 'they', aka taxpaying adults, pay hard earned money to teach your mind, how can you possibly imagine it's for some other reason than to make you of use to society?

You are being taught so you won't be useless.

I must confess though as of late, I am doubtful the money is being well spent.

The latter. Schools were setup by governments to fill a needs of society and business. The result they were looking for are good members of society and good workers. Not free thinkers.

A person who can use the mind to become a leader, producing more good members of society, and more good workers, is assured success in life.

Whichever it is - it isn't working.

Look at the tripe you get on here and you'll realise the education system is largely a waste of cash.

They teach to use minds, then to be used by mind is something else and one's choice.

Very interesting question. I boycotted reading books and novels that expressed peoples minds ata young age. I have been fine since. I even think about history being retold like is it the right or wrong account of what actually happened. Like how do you get to the raw and rugged TRUTH?

the reality is that they would never spend so much on education if it didn't have some latter economic benefits for society as a whole, but it's also true that as an individual, education frees your mind from ignorance, so that at a certain point you can decide for yourself where you want to be and what you want to do, whether you want to contribute or simply do your own thing. your life quality will suffer or improve accordingly, but it is, after all, your choice. never forget that.

they teach people who will except being taught.
those who accept gracefully are normally strong in
the mind to start with.
those who cannot except such valuble lessons are often used
in life.

The later. We need to teach how to think and the Montessori schools are best for that.

Depends who you mean by "they". But in the second use of the word "teach" that's the wrong word. To teach is not synonymous with to brainwash or to lie to. Also, you have to be careful not to include training a pilot so he can fly jets - for us - with "teaching him so we can use him" - unless you meant to include that - and training of all kinds for employment, etc.

Also, certain religions actively try to "teach" to other people - so that their religion gains a new member - is that ?
