Position:Home>Philosophy> What languges did Nietzsche know?

Question:I know he was familiar with at least attic Greek, given that his entire work The Birth of Tragedy is based off of his readings of ancient Greek tragedy. I'm fairly certain he knew French and English, but after that I'm not too sure.

The reason I ask is because of Nietzsche's relation with Dostoevsky. I'm not sure if he read a translation of Dostoevsky's work or if he read the Russian himself. Does anyone know?
