Position:Home>Philosophy> Are you glass half full or glass half empty?

Question:My therapist asked me this question and it still stands. He walked me into a room and sat me down. On the table in front of me was a glass with some water in it. He asked me, so I said:
Since I did not see the glass get filled to the half mark, I can't say it half full, since I did not see the glass emptied to the half mark, I can't say it is half empty, but I do see the glass with water in it. To me, its just half a glass of water.
He said "Hmm" and scribbled into his little note book.

Half full. Optimism keeps life more positive.

most definitely half full. I hate to be negative. I prefer to be positive. Being a Optimist is more pleasant than pessimism.

When you look at a glass that contains half of its capacity to hold a liquid, you have no way of knowing whether it is half full or half empty.

If the glass is left on a shelf and the liquid inside it slowly evaporates, then it is half empty.

If, on the other hand, someone periodically appears to add more liquid to the glass, then it is half full.
