Position:Home>Philosophy> Our miserable God?

Question:If God existed, by definition, all knowing, all powerful, and all perfect. Do you think that this is a miserable existence, to be in a state of omniscience? I mean we get joy from pondering the big questions like "whats the meaning of life?". Your thoughts on this?

The flaw to the quesiton is in the assumption that God perceives the Universe as you or I do.

You or I may perceive and behave in a somewhat consistent manner regarding the occurance of some event. That doesn't mean that every person on the planet will perceive and behave the same as you or I when experiencing that same event.

If that's true, then how can we possibly believe that God (who by the very definition of omniscience and omnipotence - something you and I are not) would perceive existence as you or I would?

No, because God lives vicariously through us. He loves us and gave us life so when can share in his never ending bliss....We are the beloved created and She is the beloved creator......living in matter is not easy..but what good stuff is?

couldnt there be more than one god then he'd have friends

If theres a God and he knows everything there's no point in making us since he will know what each of us will do without doing it.

Miserable , by our measurements . Because we , humans , seem to thrive in chaos. In confusion. In eternal wants . In pursuit of short term happines. How can we measure the immeasurable? How do you measure the temperature of the sun? By our known instruments and we extrapolate.
So is with the creator. We are unhappy and we think God will also be happy if he is at times unhappy.

If you can imagine this so called God to be like a child you will understand what it is to be happy and satisfied .

Your thinking makes perfect sense. I would only add that those who have had some taste of that higher kind of life associate it with bliss.. or a happiness beyond measure.

I just wanted to add that aspect to the discussion.

I think the fun of life is from discovering new things and experiences, God, being all knowing, doesn't really have anything "new" to get out of life, but just babysitting our faulty race.

Omniscience?

Having billions upon billions of feelings pounding on the shore of one's mentality like the waves, is that fun? I don't think so.

Perhaps god likes to watch soaps? Over dosing it in that magnitude is kind of sick. (That would be by human standard of course.)

One has got to credit the religious authors for giving a good go at grabbing our attentions with hyped up writings.
