Chicken is listed on page 232 of my dictionary.
Egg is listed on page 398.

Chicken came first.

The egg came first of course. I mean, without the egg, there would be no chicken.

Now a team made up of a geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer claim to have found an answer. It was the egg.

Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.

Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.

Ok Seriously.... Evolution is a fact... Animals evolve as natural selection takes place... the strongest or most adaptable organisms survive and pass their genes to the next generations...

Every organism started out millions and millions of years ago in the ocean..... life started in the water... then fish started to evolve into amphibians... later on from the amphibians who layed eggs came all the other species including mammals and more importantly to your question, birds...

Birds evolved from amphibians... which means that there was once a specie that layed eggs that wasn't exactly a chicken.... but that layed a egg who later hatch a chicken....

Then... the egg...

I'd guess chicken - God created everything so He probably made a whole chicken first. But then again...He could have made the egg with the chicken inside first. Who knows.

Well I think that the chicken came first because if you think about it when God made the Earth he made all animals in there original form so that they could breed on their own. But then again the egg could have come first depending on Evolution. Really it all depends on how you look at it and what you believe.

Chicken. I believe that perhaps through evolution preexisting birds have evolved into what we now know the chicken. So the chicken then lays an egg. Neither the bird nor the egg can poof into air all of a sudden but the chicken is the one that seems to have more of an explanation to me.

Consider a third possibility - It is a TIE.

You have the chicken and inside it is an egg - so they exist at the same time!!!!!!!!

Eggs were laid way before first chickens evolved.

the chicken came first no matter what you believe in, cause if God created it then it was a chicken first cause everything was made mature (fully grown) ,but if you a science freak than they evolved into the chicken not into an egg. so which ever way you think, it will still be the chicken.
