Position:Home>Philosophy> What does the future hold for the world?

Question:That is a very loaded question that really has no right answer. We can however go by trends. Most religions speak of end times so if you folow that train of thought there will be an end time. If you are follower of the belief the earth will continue to evolve good, but science has proven the earth will eventually (as it already has started) gradually lose it's gravitational hold and well some day we will spin off. In the near future..I am an optimist. I would like to think that we as a global community become more responsible. The United States has a lot of work to do on it's PR image with the world
and developing nations will as they are already doing grow. Former empires will fall just like in the past. As long a there are men there will be wars....but technology is certainly going to change a whole lot even more than it already has. You can forget Ethanol as an alternative fuel. It is too costly and would raise food prices too much in the USA. Clean burning nuclear fuel is an endless supply of energy, however most countries are still too paranoid to make this accesible to other countries they feel are a threat. We will see a showdown in the middle east. We are not going to pull out of Iraq nice and quietly and Iran and the USA are bound to an inevitable showdown. Life for you and me should pretty much stay the same even though future events will change. We will continue to see war and natural disater..but also great diplomatic achievements in the areas of poverty and affordable medicine. Either way we we still get out of our beds in the mornings and start another day.

Cycles and more cycles. Each generation tends to believe that they each have a corner on the truth and also tend to dismiss out-of-hand the wisdom of the previous.

“Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it.”

Surprises and answers. More questions.

More of the same ... again, and again...

The future of the world will be the same as the history of the world repeated just in a diffrent time

Who really knows? But if humans don't start changing some of their self-destructive ways, we'll become extinct way before our sun burns itself out (scientifically predicted to be about 5 billion years from now.)

know one can ever know the future.
at least, not until i finish working on Futuretron-1000, my robot with time warp binoculars.....
hah but seriously, i believe THE FUTURE is just the abstract realm of possibilities, the choices you or i have yet to make, before they get siphoned through THE PRESENT and nailed down into the concrete history of THE PAST.

so if you want the future to be good, do your best to make it that way. (it's not easy)
and if you just mope around and expect the future to be bad, then it probably will be. ..and won't you feel bad if the world ends in a mess of misery and you never lifted a finger to try and stop it?

ehh maybe scaly aliens will come down and capture us as pets because of our silky clothes and shiny sunglasses...
and for their entertainment we will be forced to sing earth-songs on command.. or else be gently shocked with a transdermal "correction chip."- - -

That will depend on the conclusion of the Marian apparitions at Medjugorje.
