Apparently humans for the most part only believe what we can see. It's like being locked in a cave. One guy breaks free and sees a whole world outside the cave. he comes back to try and get everyone else out (two other guys), but they don't WANT to leave. They make the decision to stay right where they are because they only believe wat they can see.

The allegory is aimed at introducing Socrates' (Plato's)metephysics and his notion of the Ideal. But to answer your question, yes.
