Since evolution includes the proces of mutation, it stands to reason that a mutated egg from some creature hatched into a chicken.

The egg came first. Don't say that we need the chicken to lay the egg. For all we know, the egg could be an egg from an crocodile then came out from the egg is the chicken, a deformed ugly crocodile due to evolution.

Other people would say the chicken using the creation story. Where some higher being poofed the chicken first.

At the time of creation the birds of the sky were created rather than eggs being created Genesis 1. In the event of evolution (unlikely) the chicken would have needed to come first in order to start the reproduction cycle. An egg wouldn't have simply evolved into something that was fertilized by nothing (currently a rooster is necessary for an egg to be fertilized and become a chick). With either of the different views on existence they both point to the same order. Chicken then egg.

apparently the egg did, thats what my biology teacher said, because the unevolved chicken hatched the evolved chicken.
