I wouldn't say it is made up because if there was no time, sequentiality wouldn't exist. Everything would happen at the same time. We would be born, live and die at the same time. Time exists and it affects us directly. It's the same with space. Can you describe what space is? Probably not. All of us don't question if space is made up or not, because its existence is not so subtle as that of time. Imagine though if there was no space how the world would be. Well, there wouldn't be one in the first place, because it would be impossible. Everything we know occupy space and move through it so they can only exist only where there is space.

I believe that we can't exist without time even if we would transcend time as we can't live without space even if we would transcend it. I am still working on the reason for this, but I am absolutely sure that there could be no existence without those two; time and space.

yes we made it up. Before humans evolved brains, there was no time.

Yet somehow the earth is 4.5 billion years old. There was no time but 4.5 billion years passed.

Are you getting the irony yet? is it sinking in?

No, time was created at the time of the so-called Big Bang. We just happen to be passing through and we live in its path.
As to the the universe always having been there, there is far to much evidence to show that it was not. Started about 13.7 billion years ago. It is real, and it is what it needs to be.

Philosophers of time are deeply divided on the question on what sort of ontological differences there are among the present, past and future. There are three competing theories. Presentists argue that necessarily only present objects and present experiences are real; and we conscious beings recognize this in the special "vividness" of our present experience. According to the growing-universe theory, the past and present are both real, but the future is not. The third and more popular theory is that there are no significant ontological differences among present, past and future because the differences are merely subjective. This view is called "eternalism" or "the block universe theory."

We invented clocks, but time is real if you believe there are more than three dimensions.

Time is the only thing you kill or waste that you wish you had more of.

Yes, time is indeed a human concept.

Time is real and was created by the fact that we grow old,die and have only so much time to exist here as we are. Time exists because the world is changing and moving and events are happening. There is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega Which is God. There is carnal life which is fleeting and spiritual life which is eternal. We have morning and night and we measure time to use money and buy and sell. If we did not need money then we would not need time so much and it would be the end of the rat race. We would still be under time though because we are growing old and it changes our body biologically over time. We also need to measure the amount of sleep we get to know if we are getting a healthy amount. There are many things we need to measure time to accomplish in life. We did not make it up, it was not our choice but this is what we have: Time, and we are not sure how much we each will get.
