i assume you mean"evil " in the religeous sense of "doing an evil act or thinking evil thoughts". the very fact that you are posing this question would indicate that you are not evil. a truly evil person would not pause to ask such a question, but merely act without compunction or conscience. there is a world of difference between acting in a bad way on impulse and doing evil by design. this philosophical difference is recognised in western law. if you have committed an act that resulted in harm to others, was it a pre-conceived and planned act, or a momentary loss of self control? opinion would be, i think, that MOST ( tho' not all ,e.g. self-preservation ) planned crimes would be seen as ?vil", while those un-planned acts of harm would NOT.

Sure we all are. But the Blood of Jesus can save up all. Just ask him.

what's evel?

'There is a little bit of evil in the best of us, and a little bit of good in the worst of us' Martin Luther King JR (Strength to Love)

1) I believe your well on the way to transcending all Religious-Disciplines, when you ask a question such as yours.

2) Its become my life's motto to accept the evil and good in myself as well as others.

3) Does acceptance of such things in my life, mean I put myself or those I care about in harms way? I don't believe so, I believe it means taking the whole-person and saying, despite his or her shortcomings, 'human-life is intrinsically valuable.'

4) I too am 'unsettled' in a sense.

4a) Do I believe in a Christian-God who 'Has to condemn non-followers of Christ, in spite of what they contributed to mankind'

If Christ is loving, and we are to be Christ-like, who is more loving:???

1) The Christian who hands you a tract that has a 4-step procedure for attaining heaven in the afterlife.

2) The Atheist who sent flowers to you in your darkest hour, and made himself available 24/7 by phone, and if circumstances called for it would be at your bedside or home in an instance.

4b) #2 seems, ironically more spiritual and loving, though it comes from an unlikely source.

5) Being Agnostic or 'Unsettled', is allowing yourself to make an informed choice; and you shouldn't allow yourself to be swayed by any of these arguments, but we all have to deal with the ambiguities of life(e.g. atheist being more spiritual(loving) at times then christians are at times); and how you reconcile these for yourself; will ultimately lead you to seek another question that is implied in the one above:

6) "What if anything binds us all together???"

7) My answer to 6 is hidden, not so well, in my argument above somewhere, what will yours be??

8) One thing to consider, or not, is that ambiguity in life, implies a struggle with at least two opposing viewpoints(Christianity vs Atheism; Pro-choice vs Pro-life; etc..)...when considering the noble question, "Am I evil?"...don't forget to consider seriously the other side, "Am I good?" as well.

9) One quote to leave you on, by Hegel: "The truth is neither found in Thesis(Christianity; parentheses mine), nor Antithesis(Atheism; parentheses mine) but a synthesis of the two."....

...I believe your well on your way to synthesizing the two, though the question has come in dire circumstances, it has come, and what a noble and opportune quest, it will be...
