Good question! the answers you are getting so far are all excellent answers and there are many more.
I have forever wondered if as wonderful as our five senses are ,if sight is truly such a great gift.
Sight is a challenge, it enables us to discernment, detecting differences in physical attributes which leads to judgement, categorization, labelling, racism, censorship, and separation, conflict, war etc. etc.
Try to discount the problems of sightlessness that we would eventually overcome and consider the possibilities for a blind world.

Self-awareness

....or the misconception of being separate from the beasts- superbeasts. Native Americans didn't do this, though. They harmonized with nature and considered themselves part of it. Modern man thinks he's supernatural and behaves accordingly.

The lack of respect for other peoples beliefs.

Our great tragedy is that we are structured so as to continually ask questions that, by virtue of the same structure, we'll never know how to answer.

The refusal of some individuals to live up to their intellectual, emotional, and spiritual potential.

Man's inhumanity towards his fellow man. Intolerance.

This has lead us to all the miseries we experience.

ego!

Rejection of Jesus Christ.

the feeling we are all seperate beings. when in fact we are all one
that we have to compete against others.
that we dont have love for everyone and am able to forgive others

Accept Jesus Christ as our ultimate savior...

Greed and ambition when both taken together is a recipe for destruction.

The destruction of the massive library in ancient Alexandria. By far the biggest loss of, and in history to mankind.

we have become to smart for our own good.

The morality of altruism and the 1st commandment to reject your ability to think and reason thus obey a faith based moral system. This allows other men to dominate men against their will and best interests. Force by ruining the minds of those to be enslaved.

Other than thinking we are separate from the Creator, the fact that we take an age (and then some) to learn from our mistakes.

That most of us never get far beyond self-absorption; we are emotionally and spiritually stalled at bout age 3

Lack of humility, and humanity in general.

That people often die sad and lonely without anyone who gives a darn.

It caused us to be separated from God and all he has for us, and we live in brokenness and deception.

To me,the biggest tragedies (one of the biggest) in the story of men is the Atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
