Nope! I believe we are all made up of energy. When we die, the energy just changes forms. I live my life satisfied with who I am, where I am and am in charge of my own happiness. I do not care whether there is an afterlife or not. I do what I can today to be the best, most compassionate, helpful person I can be now. Tomarrow will come when it comes.

Dont know about afterlife, so i live each day as best i can

It is through contradiction and the existence of opposites that life is given meaning. What came before and what will come after share a similar territory in our minds; both contain the mystery of the Unknown. We have the Present to achieve the balance between those two regions. Life is what you make it.

I think that pinning your hopes in being a do gooder only to be rewarded with heaven is one of the main reasons I never quite followed the christian model. I think doing anything without the seeking for reward is a more altruistic approach.

But in wishing for a better existence in the afterlife? I think alot of people do by default, its a form of escapism. Using our imagination is also a form of escapism, and if we didnt use our imagination then we probably couldnt conjure up a heaven to even think of.

Ok in an answer to your question, I am more of a believer in bettering myself spiritualy becoming less ignorant in who I am by learning what my weaknesses are and how to improve them. And when I say weaknesses i usually mean in my thinking, beliefs and perceptions.

Death is inevitable but if we surrender our sole purpose in life to wishful thinking and not facing reality or growing as rational empathic people who seek truth thru self discovery and through others, then what does it matter if there is a heaven where the grass is greener, if you never excersized your volition at any point in time and instead chose to be a follower always shying from pain in order to reside in relative comfort, never learning and never truly feeling either.
