um, what? I am not my thoughts.

I totally agree.
"Happiness is the successful state of life, pain is an agent of death. Happiness is that state of consciousness which proceeds from the achievement of one's values."

So achieve just one of your values, and the pyramid of happiness begins. As you achieve more, the effect is exponential because it bolsters self-esteem.

I'm not sure what you're asking.
When I think of happiness though, I think of fields full of bright and cheerful flowers, the warmth and wonder of the sun, being free and open, the air, big fluffy white clouds on a sunny day, birds happily chirping and singing, sunlight breaking through the trees in a forest, red bud trees blooming, spring, babies being born, grass turning green...

Someone put a gap in the middle of that word and I can never Ken Dodd's lovely song any more without hearing the gap! but it is only giggles

O Lord, let me be in that light!

If only it was that simple!!

Yes and no - we are all born into and are from Love....happiness comes from that...... so i guess we are...... or something like that......

Im confused - whaaaaa!!!! :-)

lol

Or saddness....

Yogis, researchers and innovators have said that concentration on a single thought for a long time helps stimulate the pituitary gland and gives a sense of happiness.

Thus one of the key components of happiness is deep thought for a long time. The inability to do so makes the mind fickle and hence insecure. The internal security comes from a calm mind, which happens when we are able to focus on a thought for a long time.

Similarly in deep meditation, mind focuses on a single thought for a long time. Thus when contemplation, reflection and Samadhi (together called Sanyam according to Patanjali Yoga Darshan) are done on a single thought then it produces the sense of well being and happiness. In this process a major portion of the 100 billion neurons of the brain are being used in a laser like fashion for a single thought. The exact mechanism, though, is still not understood.
