No, I do not accept that as a valid assumption. Joseph is right about the fallacies. You have more than one.

I can say that it takes more effort to be constructive than destructive. I do not see people doing an equal amount of good and bad. I do not see people as basically good.
If they were we really would rarely need police, courts, and very few jails. We would not need to keep much of an eye on our children and leave our doors unlocked. Strangers would be welcomed in and a handshake would be good enough in business. The evidence for man's overwhelming goodness doesn't hold up to our reality.
