Position:Home>Philosophy> Human Perfection?

Question:Is there such thing as a perfect human being? When I say perfect, I meant physically, mentally, and emotionally (all combine their characteristic too). I ask this question because I've seen so many beautiful people physically, and everyone praises them for their looks, but they lack in other areas I've mention. I've also met people that are beautiful mentally, and emotionally stable, but most would call them ugly. Is there anyone naturally beautiful (perfect) out there? I always thought artists/geniuses were beautiful.

"The term is subjective, as a concept it sets the parameters for a paradoxical goal, because of this subjectivity.
To achieve perfection one would first have to eliminate individual consciousness subjectivity, the single consciousness would then have to assign a definition of the term, having done this the parameters would have been set, however to achieve the goal of perfection the definition would have to include all the variables that could negate the term defined as perfect, these are two very difficult task to perform due to the many variables and subjectivity."

yes because perfection is a state of mind

Everyone has something that is their special flaw. However I see it as something that makes the person unique. Human perfection, in my mind, isn't possible because we all have imperfections that make us who we are. Everyone is beautiful because of their flaws. Even nature has it's flaws and yet it is beautiful.

Just some food for thought.

Perfection is boring and at the heart of human interest lies conflict. If there ever was someone both mentally and physically perfect the world would invert itself. But if you are asking if there are beautiful people who are also mentally beautiful the answer is of course yes, but they all have their own insecurities and areas for improvement.

first of all perfect is defined as complete so a complete person would be easy to find. But complete in which way u may ask... Complete/Perfect would have to mean what one perceives as being complete/perfect. Everyone's perception of beauty is different, and intellect and emotional stability is different to everyone. So there is not uniformally perfect person. There is, however, a perfect person for everyone, that is, a person who meets the inner and outter qualities of a perfect person.

There are a few people who seem beautiful both outwardly and inwardly. The old saying is beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Your idea of beauty may not be exactly the same as mine. As a group we are a bunch of very flawed creatures and the word perfect does not come to mind. I do love many people I have been lucky enough to know and most are not beautiful. I am sometimes amazed at how flawed my favorite people are. Our humanity is what makes us "beautiful" not our looks or talents.

Well, you have just found the perfect human being.
I am ready to be worshipped.
Melanie, you are talking like a perfect human being; I like the way you think.

No, there is no perfect human being. I believe a person's responsibility in life is to become the best person they can be, whilst simultaneously accepting that they'll never be perfect. I think that is the state in which you achieve wisdom.
Without flaws we do not learn and are not human.

I do, however, believe there are 'beautiful people' who are a lot closer than the rest of us. It's a beauty that shines from within them and makes them mentally and physically appealing (although not necessarily in a sexual way). They're usually quiet, gentle, calm, unconventional and creative. The ones I've met include artists, actors, world leaders, carpenters, religious leaders and people addicted to drugs. When I meet them I treasure them and their acquaintance and I never, ever forget them.

Well, Jesus jumps out as a trite answer, if you hold by Christianity and such.

Beauty--be it physical, mental, or emotional--is in the eye of the beholder. So too then, is perfection. There is no objective, universal standard of what it means to be perfect. So whether a person is considered perfect in any or all of those traits will depend on how you define perfection.

That said, there are about 6.6 billion of us. So long as your criteria of perfection is actually possible for a human, then statistically speaking I'm sure there's _someone_ out there whom you would consider perfect in all 3 areas, even if I or someone else wouldn't consider them perfect.

Here's a thought for you: if only 1% of the population was (by your definition) physically perfect, and 1% mentally perfect, and 1% emotionally perfect, then that would mean only 1 in a million (1% * 1% * 1%, or .01 * .01 * .01) would be perfect in all 3. But if only one in a million people met your criteria of perfect in all 3 areas (and a million is a LOT of people!), that would mean there are still around 6,600 "perfect" people in the world. Hmmm, if you gathered them all together and gave them their own town, what kind of a place would that be? ....

human perfection is a myth

human perfection is impossible.

'human perfection' would mean that all of humanity would have to agree on conditions that the perfect human must have

we could never reach such an agreement because of varying opinions.

--BUT--

Perfection in your eyes is entirely possible

i think it cancels it out because you cant have perfection without mistakes or else it wouldnt be called or known as perfection...
