Question: What brand of clarinet reeds do you recommend!?
I've been playing the clarinet for 8 years now, and for the last few years I've used Vandoren V-12 size 3 1/2 reeds because that is what my band director has me use!. Recently I bought two boxes, a V-12 box, and a traditional Vandoren box- both size 3 1/2!. The traditional reeds overall seemed to work better!. What is the difference!? Are there other brands that you'd recommend!? Oh, I also have a vandoren b40 mouthpiece!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Vandoren are my reed of preference - I tend to play the traditional rather than the V12, but that's just my preference!. Reeds are a personal thing - there's no right or wrong, it's just what works for you!. I would have said that a 3 1/2 might be a bit hard, I didn't move up to a 3 1/2 until I'd been playing for 12 years, but maybe you've got huge lungs!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i have the same mouthpiece as you and i also use the exact same reeds!. Vandoren is the best brand out there and i think the V 12 are slightly less thick!. Use the traditional ones, i think they work the best :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
