Question: I have to pick a song and perform it for my theater teacher!!?
My theatre teacher said that this year instead of doing a full scale musical, we were going to do a "musical review"!. She told me to pick a song from any musical and I could perform that song and scene!. Any ideas!? I'm not really sure what my voice is exactly, but I belive its around soprano and mezzo!. I would really like to do 'Part of Your World' from The Little Mermaid!. I'll try to get a recording of me singing it!. And also, I'm also in middle school, so it's not like I'm trying out on Broadway!. (: Just trying to work my way up there!. Thanks! :DWww@QuestionHome@Com

I would figure out how old my teacher is and do something from when he or she was in their mid-20s!. Do something that they may have heard of before!. Make sure its in your range!. Be able to sing it without accompaniment, if possible!.

If you want to stress comedy, then maybe Adelaide's Lament from Guys and Dolls!. You can belt that one at times!. Or maybe, "I'm Just a Girl Who Caint Say No" from Oklahoma!.

Maybe, "I Enjoy being a Girl" from Flower Drum Song if you want a middle of the road song!.

If you want a serious song, I would say "I'd Give My Life for You" from Miss Saigon (this may be a bit obscure), "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess!. The song "As Long as He Needs Me" may also be able to show your ranges (high and low notes, and loud and soft parts)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Songs from Disney musicals are usually not good for auditions, but since its for a middle school production its probably fine!. Just pick a song that you know pretty well and that you feel comfortable singing!.
