Yes there is an i know what your talking about!. i can do it but i don't know who to explain how to do it!. its really hard!. listen to the signers you want to sing like and just try to get your voice to match there's!. no people (maybe you) aren't able to do it because there voice just doesn't make that noise!. like pink, she sings that way naturally!. your voice might be to different to hit but you can try anyway,<3 good luck BTW i love pink! <3Www@QuestionHome@Com

A lot of that quality is born with the singer herself!. Some people have clear voices and some have the more raspy sound, Like Kim Carnes ( a little bit older music form like the late 70's or the performer who sings "Total Eclipse of the Heart", Bonnie Tyler!.

A singer can do that artificially, but it's not good to do for a long period of time and should be done sparingly, and it a bit easier to do for lower notes!.

An example of how to do this is to try to imitate a dog's growl in the back of your throat!. you know!.!.Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

You can use that technique to put a growl in your vocals!.
I used to do it for one song we performed onstage when I wanted a heavy growling blues-rock voice!. If you try it long enough you should be able to modulate just how much growl to put into it, and could get a mellower grrrrrrrr that would suit you!.

But it hurts if you do it too much!. I suppose if you did it a lot your vocal chords would suffer some damage and you may sound permanently raspy, but you probably would lose some of your higher register as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
