Hi Jen

Put it this way, you have the fingering and the basis to jump on the bass with slight modification only!.
When you play bass, it is not a lead guitar!. You have to use the instrument as a rhythm in combination with the drum!.

Your teacher should guide you easily if he already had you in mind for the job!. That ould imply that you are not a bad musicianWww@QuestionHome@Com

Very common question!.

Too many failed guitar players take up the bass because they think it will be easier!. True, you are only playing one note at a time (usually) instead of chords, but too many people assume the bass is simple!. It's not!. You only play one note at a time on all woodwind and brass instruments too, are they easier!? No!. To be a bad bass player is easy, to be a bad trumpet player is easy!. To be GOOD takes dedication and hard work!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sort of!.

To be a passable bassist, you can easily transition!. To be a GOOD bassist, I recommend practicing with the bass for a while before you actually start writing bass lines!. There are tons of techniques unique to bass that will make you writing much better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
