Question: Why does my clarinet squeak!?
I have been playing clarinet for almost twenty years now and just invested in my very first wooden clarinet!. I am having a problem with the B natural key squeaking I can play all of the notes below the register just fine as well as the notes above the register, only the B natural doesn't play!. I have tried everything that I can think of to try and fix it on my own!. I have tried both my expensive leather ligature as well as the cheap metal ligature, every size reed from a 2 to 31/2 and in every brand they sell locally rico, vandoren, vandoren v12, grand concert, I have even tried switching back and forth between my expensive mouthpiece and the factory mouthpiece, and I've also tried making as much change in my embouchure as possible and I am at my wits end!. What could possibly be causing it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm guessing here, but maybe the valve seal is not quite up to par and it works for all but that one frequency!.

From work I've done with resonant tubes, even a small leak can prevent a good quality resonant behavior!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i agree with marchingbandgeek06 you just need to get use to the instrument!. i play two different clarinets and i use one for marching and one for concert band!. you might need to get the reed a bit wetter i had that problem with bass clarinet tooWww@QuestionHome@Com
