Question: What are the best classical and jazz music theory books!?
I really need to go back and re-learn my music theory, and I'm wondering if you guys can recommend some composition-geared theory books!.

I think "Tonal Harmony" is a standard college text book for classical theory!. I have many fond memories using that book!. I'm sure it's available used at some online store!.

The Jazz Theory Book by Mark Levine seems to be pretty popular, according to Amazon!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One relatively new (2007) published book that I have enjoyed
and has helped me in improving my musical skills is:
The Everything Music Theory Book (with CD)
by Marc Schonbrum!. $19!.95 at your local book store!.

This book 17 Chapters (273 pages) starts with:
Review of The Basics and ends with:
Advanced Harmony,Jazz Harmony, and Transposition!.

Mr!.Schonbrun is an educator, musician (classical guitarist)
