First of all let me talk to you and encourage you, friend!.

On the technical front: remember to find the song that fits your vocal range!. Are you soprano or alto!? Can you sing it straight through or embellish it !? Can you hold your notes forever!? Do you have to ride up and down the scales!? A special technical note to consider: if a song is set in a key for, say, a strong tenor, and you liked it, could you find someone to transpose it for you to match your range!?

Example: Michael English has a song out now called "Feels Like Redemption"!. It's in the key of D-Flat and will modulate to E-Flat!. For me to be comfortable with performing the song as a very settled mezzo-soprano (that would be 2nd Sop!.), I would need to have the key transposed to A-Flat/B-Flat and work it as I'm led!.

On the spiritual side of the issue, if I can be personal with you: where are you in your walk with the Lord!?

Are you grateful still for your salvation!? Can you sing about that!? Have you grown and matured in your walk to where you can encourage someone else in song!? Or are you so enamored with Jesus that worshipping Him is second nature to you, and as natural as breathing, and you can do nothing else but lift your voice in praise and adoration to Him!? Where are you in your walk with Jesus today!?

As you prepare to sing, check you heart and your motives!. Do you want the praises of your peers or the approval of your Lord!? I encourage you to consecrate yourself (pray, fast, get in your Bible) so you can be the vessel of honor He chose to use to promote His glory!. Because in the end, Avia, you really want to sing the song that will make you cry when it's all over and will have people praise Him now, and talk about it later!.!.!.much later!. Like years later!.

I hope I have done more for you than just answer your question, BUT let me do that real quick:

Stacy Orrico - Strong Enough
Twila Paris - Where He Leads Me
Amy Grant - Breath of Heaven (excellent for Christmas, good year round)
Yolanda Adams - Let Us Worship Christ
CeCe Winans - Alabastar Box
Darlene Zschech - Overwhelmed
Martha Munizzi - Becauses Of Who You Are
Sandi Patty - Almighty GodWww@QuestionHome@Com

I absolutely LOVE the Natalie Grant song: Finally Home!. The background is mostly piano, eventually morphing into a full orchestra!. It has a great climax, and is suitable for a mezzo-soprano!. There is also the possibility of belting the final chorus (makes the ending all the more powerful!)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would recomend "When I call on Jesus" by Nicole C Mullens it is a beautiful song!. She also sing "My redeemer lives" which is great also!. You can also check out Jackie Valesquez and Rebecca St James or Point of Grace!. Point of Grace has a song called "Turn up the music" which is a great song as well!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
