What kind of guitar strings do i need?

Question: What kind of guitar strings do i need!?

Do NOT follow DMS's advice under any circumstances!. There are very few acoustic guitars that are braced heavily enough for heavy gauge strings!. If for some unusual reason you are intent on using heavy gauge strings, first check with the manufacturer of your guitar - not the store where you bought it - to see if your guitar is capable of using heavies!.

I prefer light gauge strings on all my acoustics!. I use and recommend Elixir Nanoweb light gauge acoustic strings!. They are more expensive than regular non-coated strings but they last a long time, never discolor, and eliminate finger squeak!. On the other hand, there are lots of good strings on the market!. Assuming you have a steel string acoustic guitar just go to your local music store and get a set of whichever strings strikes your fancy!.

Unless you're performing you really don't need any heavier strings than light gauge and in any case they're a lot easier on your fingers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
