Hey im 14 and im preforming "sweet child o' mine" in the talent show at my middle school!. Once a few weeks ago, i brought my electric guitar to spanish class and i was intimidated by preforming for the 25 students there, so i have no idea how im going to preform infront of over 500 people! does anyone have any ideas!? also this is something i really want to do, so backing out isnt an option for me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is no magic way to get over stage fright!. You just need to calm down and decide that there is nothing to be afraid of!. Would you be afraid of playing in front of one stranger!? If the answer is no (which please let it be) then just remember you're playing in front of 500 one strangers!.
So with your mind set to try to get over this start trying to think about the worst case scenario!. What is the worst that can happen!? You mess up a note!? Will people care!? You getting up in front of them is more then most of them would ever do!. You're one of the bravest in the room!
Now with that settled, now you need to get "into the zone!." Many performers use techniques to get themselves ready!. This is the one I use: First, i stand up straight!. I put my arms straight out in front of me and breathe in for eight slow beats!. Then you push your push your arms out to your sides for 8 slow beats and regulate your breathing!. You should finish with your arms out like a bird!. Put your arms back in the beginning position and pull in and push down until your arms are down in front of your body!. Put your arms out and pull them in and push them up above your head!. Put them out and pull them in and then push them back out to your beginning position!. (Trying to do slow 8 counts for each, i hope you could tell that!.) Now if you're still nervous stand up as tall as you can!. Pretend that a balloon is tied to your head!. "pop" the balloon and let your head sink down!. Slowly bend your back vertebra by vertebra!. Go as low as you can, breathing slowly as you can!. Then from a folded over position come slowly back up!. You should be very relaxed, and will not care as much about your audience!.
Lastly, have fun, if you screw it up it's not the end of the world!. You can do it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know how you feel! This summer, I was going to sing a song in front of my entire camp during a talent show!. I was so nervous! But what helped me is that my friend came up there and fit into the song perfectly, as an added character!. (The song was kind of theatrical!.) I think that if you can, have someone support you on stage - or even off! Focus on one person, or if that doesn't help you, just focus on one spot!. And I promise you, as soon as you get your mind off the aspect of 'a crowd', then you just flow right through it, and are so happy when you're done!. :) Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Jesse-
I play drums in a band about once a week in bars/pubs (been doing it over a year) and I still get the jitters before each show!. Just practice, stay focused, have confidence in yourself and have fun!. If you do mess up a bit, don't stress out or look worried, for the most part people won't even notice!. Good luck dude!Www@QuestionHome@Com

try looking somewhere else instead of the crowd and slowly shift your attention to them as the performance went on by!. also, try to be more confident! tell yourself you are better then the rest of the world on that stage because usually stage fright occur due to the lack of confidence!. so ya, good luck!.
