Question: Question about soprano sax!.!.!.!?
My aunt is going to give me her curved soprano sax and I'm really excited because I've only ever gotten the chance to play tenor and alto (Im in high school) I've always wanted to try bari but I never really had an opportunity but I hear that it's harder!. My question is which out of alto tenor and bari does the soprano compare to most (like how hard is it to play) also can you play soprano in band!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The soprano sax is similar to the tenor, as they're both in B flat!.
It's also similar to the alto, as they're closer in size!.

The soprano and baritone saxes are the hardest to play, the bari because it takes a lot more breath control, and the soprano is tougher because it is SO hard to keep in tune!. I've heard many professional sop!. players and i havent heard one that's played without being out of tune for some of the piece!.

I hope this helps, and keep playing :D

I don't know much about saxophones but I was under the impression the soprano was the most different from the other members of the family!. I don't know if the fingering is the same!. You could definitely play one in a band, but I don't know how often they are used!. (Only famous musician I know of who plays one is Kenny G)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Alto sax gives the most soprano!.

but in band i belive that they only use Tenor, Alto, and Bari!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
