Question: Can you suggest plays or playwrites that might have material like this!?
I have to do a monologue for my Acting I class, and would like to try a very intense, very dramatic piece - something like a modern-day Medea!. (That level of intensity, I mean, not killing my children, though that's whatever!.) While I've been reading plays nonstop for the past while, I haven't found anything amazing yet, and I need to start working on it soon!. Can anyone suggest plays or playwrites that have strong female characters and situations that might work with this!? I'm looking for the following:
- Written after 1960!.
- Between the ages of 15 and mid- to late twenties!.
- Any language or content is fine!.
- A strong conflict, and interaction between characters within that conflict!. (Basically, I don't want to sift through a million "oh, let me tell you a story" bits!.)
I don't need links to anything online, and I'm not looking for anyone's original work - my University has a great library!. I just need some thoughts on where to start looking!. Thanks for your suggestions!
