The basic problem seem to me that you don't really LOVE guitar!. Maybe you like the sound guitars make and you think it's be really cool if you could play like Eddie Van Halen!. But you won't unless you practice and play it!.

If you really loved playing guitar, you wouldn't be able to stop playing it!.
Your free time would be spent playing the guitar instead of an X Box or Playstation!.

When I was your age I played guitar about 3 hours a day or more!. I'd put on about 6 record albums and play every song on every record!.
some I was good at some I never quite figured out, but it was all good experience!.

Maybe your lessons are just boring, too!. Try a new teacher, or if you have enough basic knowledge, forget lessons and just learn songs that YOU want to play!. I didn't have internet guitar lessons or guitar Tabs growing up!. So I learned with a few lessons and then playing the crap out of my guitar!

You don't say whether you are playing an electric or not!. If you are playing only acoustic, that could get boring after a while, I know I'd get bored playing only acoustic songs!. It's too limiting!.

So buck up and start playing stuff you like to play!. Either that or give it up!.

Find songs with guitar parts you really love!. Riffs or solos that you wouldn't mind hearing a hundred times!. I play the acoustic, so I started listening to a ton of acoustic bands and the pure talent and creativity in their guitarists inspire me to work hard and get to their level!.

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to learn to play a song only to give up, and then two years later I come across it again and I can play it!. It's a good feeling to get better at playing!.

Best of luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Listen to some music!. Start with those bands and songs that you fell in love with in the first place!. Remind yourself that you can take the same formulas they use and make up your own songs!. Because they will come from you, your stuff will have something unique to say!.
Look up the tabs to those old songs and dare to learn just one new chord!. Put it in your new song!.
Then, have a goal to show off your new songs to somebody!. Answer an ad for a local group looking for someone like you!. There should be a board where you take lessons, if not ask about drummers and bass players taking lessons, who are at the same level as you, to jam with!.
Blow some minds with "your" ideas!. I can't wait to hear them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I understand how you feel, but instead of guitar, it's violin!. Sometimes it just seems like such a hassle to practice, doesn't it!? I think you should try looking on the internet for guitar-versions of songs you like!. You can even show off to your friends if you want!. Or, better yet, join the school band (or other bands in school, like jazz band, pit band, etc), or you could even consider starting a band with your friends!. I know a couple of people that go to public places like parks and coffee shops to perform music!. Keep in mind that playing an instrument is not only for yourself, but for others to listen and appreciate!.

Good luck and hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i kinda know how you feel i was lucky enough to have a good teacher!. it seems so limited when you start learning but you have to get excited about playing and learn songs you like!. after that you may start fooling around with chords or progressions and soloing with the pentatonic scale!. after you start feeling confortable with playing you could get a few toys like a wah pedal or a distortion or drive pedal i would suggest maybe a digitech pedal!.make sure you have a half decent amp as well !.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well, I was the same way!. I have a guitar still, but do not play it!. I decided that it really wasn't my thing!.

what's your FAVORITE song!? learn to play that!.
maybe the prospect of playing your FAVORITE song would help!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've had this happen to me numerous times but I just had to re-think about why I was playing and learning, and eventually I got back into it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
